Our Hounds |

MHI’s hounds were initially drafted from the Shakerag, Tryon, and Orange County Hounds in the mid-1950’s. The hounds are American and Crossbred. In 2005, MHI acquired 14 Penn-Marydel hounds from The Triangle Hunt. The American and Crossbred hounds have exceptional speed and drive, the Penn-Marydel hounds feature deep voices with the perseverance to work slowly in a covert. This combination of talents works well in MHI’s hunt territories which have deep coverts, rolling hills, rocky terrain along with open fields and interesting water crosses.
